Understanding and Treating Shame
Participants who successfully complete the course will be able to:
° Describe and differentiate shame from related emotions like guilt and embarrassment
° Illustrate the neurobiology of shame and its impact on clients’ emotional regulation and behavior
° Apply the Four R’s framework to recognize, respond to, and reduce shame in clinical work
° Develop practical, therapeutic interventions to help clients process and heal from shame
° Develop greater self-awareness of your own shame responses and how they show up in the therapy room
° Classify shame-informed treatment plans that promote safety, connection, and long-term healing
